Artificial intelligence and machine learning technologies have been around for some time, but the step changes over the past few years – in particular, the launch of generative AI – are creating opportunities and risks across the board.

“There is a lot of talk about robo-taxis and making consumer vehicles autonomous, but that is incredibly difficult because you have these vehicles driving on local roads, where there are people and pets that may do unpredictable things and you may well have passengers. Long-haul trucking, by contrast, is far more predictable because you are largely moving along highways and there are fewer variables – it’s an easier puzzle to solve."
